Today, we’re very proud to announce the availability of RES ONE Workspace 10.1, providing you with the path to deliver a premier digital workspace experience across devices.
This people-centric release continues to focus on improving the user experience and simplifying the complexity of securing the digital workspace. RES aims to simplify security capabilities with continued updates to the web-based Management Portal, where we enhanced the management of whitelisting and blacklisting. RES continues to extend the enhanced application security capabilities for the workspace across Windows, Mac and Linux environments. This enables cross-platform application security and increased infrastructure visibility for improved risk mitigation and maximizing workforce productivity. IT now has increased visibility across the workspace to make better informed infrastructure decisions. Finally, you asked and we listened – this release introduces some key features that where driven by our User Voice community.
Customers with valid Solution Assurance can download RES ONE Workspace 10.1 from the RES Success Center today (login required).
To learn more about the capabilities of RES ONE Workspace 10.1, read below for new features at-a-glance:
Enhanced Web-Based Management Portal
The modernization of the web management portal continues, with the security capabilities of the console now being offered through an updated admin UI. Enhancements to the management portal include increased security, making it easier to create and maintain application security rules like APIs, and the introduction of a new dashboard for better visibility capturing key metrics. Don’t worry, we won’t pull the rug out, the old Windows Console is still there. We just encourage you to check it out, and if you have feedback, we want to hear it!
HKLM Support – UserVoice Feature
RES has traditionally been very user focused, and in fact, our motto includes being ‘People Centric.’ HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE (HKLM) has been a feature customers have been asking for via User Voice, support and directly to PM. You asked, and we listened! HKLM support will enable better end-to-end workspace management with similar functionality as with HKCU, while supporting the ability to import ADMX and registry files.

TECH PREVIEW: Certificate Support to Simplify Whitelisting and Blacklisting Management
RES ONE Workspace has two missions when it comes to endpoint security:
1. Continue to be ‘People Centric’ in everything we do
2. Ease the management pain of whitelisting and blacklisting
We are proud to preview a new feature, and in the spirit of Agile, we encourage feedback from our customers and partners. By introducing certificate support, you can now authorize files based on a publisher, a product name (and soon a version), or both. This feature requires the new web-based management portal and Workspace container. Again, we encourage feedback! I will be providing a video demo in the coming weeks surrounding this feature.
Enhanced Support for Linux and Mac users
Linux and Mac continue to show presence in the workplace. RES ONE Workspace now has full parity with Windows when managing whitelists and blacklists. With RES ONE Workspace 10.1, you now have enhanced management from console, enabled context aware containers with addition of new ‘Power Zones,’ and support for standard ‘Power Zones,’ such as network and non-Windows OS targeting.
Bypass Composer Improvements – UserVoice Feature
You asked and we listened! Troubleshooting an end-user is now easier, isolating a group of non-RES and RES users on a shared system is now feasible, and mixing non-RES and RES users in server-based computing environment is all now possible with RES ONE Workspace 10.1. Bypass Composer now enables ability to target non-Administrators and has an improved Active Directory browse functionality.
Improved license management – UserVoice Feature
Again, you asked and we listened. While minor to some, this improvement will ease the management pain of main! License management is now improved license with the ability to multi-select users to release/reserve licenses and browse Active Directory to reserve licenses by user and groups.
Windows 10 updates
RES ONE Workspace 10.1 now supports Windows 10 v1703 (Creator’s Update) and continues improved Start Menu management, enhance migrations from Windows 7 to Windows 10 and simplify the user’s experience on Windows 10.1.
As always, thanks to all the team members who helped to create the release and to the community who provided a lot of good suggestions (keep them coming!). Feel free to add comments below, reach out to the RES Product Managers or provide new ideas to the RES Success Center.
